CARMEL, IN – Synergize, the Carmel-based community rethinking professional relationships, supported Indiana Health Fund at its latest 4:30 Meetup. Members and supporters gathered at 3Up in Carmel to create new friendships and support local families in need.

Indiana Health Fund is a new nonprofit organization. It was founded by two OB-GYNs, Dr. Jeffrey Meltzer and Dr. Leigh Meltzer, who saw a need to support people with high-deductible insurance plans and out-of-network emergencies over their 20 years of practice.

The organization helps negotiate and pay off medical debt for Hoosiers in need. Once the debt is gone, Indiana Health fund also provides financial planning services and counseling to those they serve. Their goal is to eliminate the personal and financial stress caused by debt, which can be suffocating when piled on top of medical issues.

Colleen Rusnak, Executive Director at Indiana Health Fund, spoke at the event. She shared the group’s mission and stories of families they’d helped. Families in need can apply for assistance on Indiana Health Fund’s website, indianahealthfund.org.

Other speakers at the event included Carmel Fire Chief David Haboush, a Synergize member who serves on the board for Indiana Health Fund, and Tina Shute, another Synergize member. Shute’s company, REI Real Estate, sponsored the 4:30 Meetup.

In total, Synergize raised over $3,300 for Indiana Health Fund. A significant portion of each Synergize membership, and 50% of all nonmember event ticket sales, supports a different local nonprofit every month. Synergize is a professional community with a focus on building authentic relationships and giving back to others.

“We think there’s a huge problem when people are forced into spaces where they feel like they need to either sell something or be sold something,” said Heather Hunter, Synergize’s Director of Marketing. “If you try to fit into either of those boxes, oftentimes you’ll miss out on your true purpose in someone’s life.”
