Payge Gillig is a seasoned CommUNiTY Group Facilitator – “Communicating Your Best Self” is her second CommUNiTY Group! (Members may be familiar with the first one, “A Creative Outlet; Synergize-Style”) This group follows the format of a lot of our other CommUNiTY Groups; it’s a discussion-based roundtable focusing on professional development.
Payge was inspired to create this group based on her own experience studying interpersonal communication. She loves sharing this knowledge with others, and is a natural-born driver of great group discussion. Don’t take it from us, though – learn about our newest CommUNiTY Group from Payge herself!
Heather: Payge, if you could sum up your CommUNiTY Group in a couple of sentences, how would you do it?
Payge: The Communication group is a space to ask questions and learn more about the way we communicate. Whether this is for our personal lives or business, there is always something we can relearn or improve on. We will dive deep into Communication Theories or smaller, more specific topics that are suggested.
H: What makes you so excited about interpersonal communication?
P: Interpersonal Communication excites me because we can learn so much from each other. Yet most of our conversations end with miscommunication. It is important to be open and receptive when communicating with others in order to learn more about each other. This helps build closer friendships and strong relationships and makes us confident when we speak.
H: What’s the impact you hope to make through this group?
P: I hope to impact people’s relationships. It is important to be authentic and provide value in a conversation. Communication skills also help build strong relationships and trust for personal and business connections. That is why we need to build communication skills.
H: What do you like best about CommUNiTY Groups in general?
P: CommUNITY groups in general are my favorite. Not only do I enjoy seeing everyone, but I also learn something new. Synergize helps me grow personally through the CommUNITY groups. I am challenged while being supported. It is my safe space to learn more about myself and the world around me.
H: What do you like most about being a facilitator?
P: I happen to be a people person so I encouraged myself to be a facilitator. As a facilitator, I look forward to learning from everyone. Even though I pick the topic it is the discussion that carries the lesson. It is important to bring up your perspective, challenge others, and be there for each other as we navigate through conversations.
Payge’s CommUNiTY Group meets every 3rd Wednesday, from 8:00 – 9:00am, at the Synergize Hub. You don’t have to be a regular attendee to show up! All members of Synergize are encouraged to come hang out and discuss with us. Click here to add this group to your calendar!
